‘Tis the season to give thanks! Show your appreciation by submitting a thank you letter for publication in The Cordova Times. Email letters up to 150 words max to share@thecordovatimes.com. Please include full name, city and daytime phone number. Phone number will not be published. Deadline for Thanksgiving weekend edition is Friday, Nov. 16. Selected letters will appear in our Nov. 23 gift guide edition and online.

ASAA Regional Volleyball Tournament

The ASAA Regional Volleyball Tournament is slated for Nov. 15-17 at the Cordova Jr./Sr. High School.

Movie night

The Iceworm Committee presents “Christopher Robin” at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at North Star Theatre in the Cordova Center.

Business training

The Cordova Chamber of Commerce will be offering its first training through the Alaska Small Business Development Center at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 in the Education Room at the Cordova Center. Knit Lit Book Club

Join the Knit Lit Book Club at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 by the fireplace at the Cordova Public Library. Relax, knit and discuss their latest book, “Next Year in Havana” by Chanel Cleeton.

Plastic Recycling Event

The Copper River Watershed Project is hosting the next Cordova Plastic Recycling event from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 at AC Value Center. Remember to rinse, drain and dry your plastics and remove caps. Only #1 and #2 plastics will be accepted. Christmas Tree Lighting & Holiday Kick-off

Join the Cordova Chamber of Commerce for their Christmas Tree Lighting & Holiday Kick-off from 5-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 at their office, 404 1st Street. They will be serving hot chocolate and cookies and singing carols with the student choir.

2018 Holiday Bazaar

The 2018 City of Cordova Parks and Recreation Department Holiday Bazaar is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at Mt. Eccles Elementary School.

Portraits of Nature’ at Copper River Gallery

Kristin Link’s art show “Portraits of Nature” is on display at the Cordova Museum’s Copper River Gallery in the Cordova Center. Link is a naturalist and painter currently living near McCarthy. Her illustrations and field sketches have been exhibited at the Alaska State Museum.

Food pantry services

Moms, Pops and Tots!

A play group for children from infants to 4 years old is open from 10 a.m. to noon Mondays at the Masonic Lodge. The group focuses on exploring developmental issues and building on each child’s strengths through large-motor and small-motor skills play, pretend play and sensory play. Al-Anon in Cordova

Little Ones at Storytime

Little Ones at Storytime, with youth services librarian Anna Hernandez, is 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays in the Cordova Public Library. Join Anna for stories, songs, and finger plays, geared toward preschool ages.

Teen Art

Teen Art with Paula Payne will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays in the Education Room at the Cordova Center.


FRIDAYS

Morning Music

Morning music is back from 8:05 a.m. to 8:40 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays at the Mt. Eccles Elementary School music room for kindergarten through sixth grade students. Learn to sing and play fiddles, guitar, ukulele, bass, banjo and mandolin. Older students and parents are needed as helpers. Pre-schoolers are welcome to come with their care givers. After School Art

After School Art with Debbie Carlson will be held 3-4 p.m. Fridays in the Education Room at the Cordova Center. This program is geared towards grades 1-4.

Patch the Pirate Kids Club

Patch the Pirate Kids Club will be held 3-5 p.m. Fridays at the MorningStar Independent Baptist Church, 412 First St., for children grades first through sixth.
