Deaton selected for Senate Page Program

William Deaton, a junior at Cordova Jr./Sr. High School, has been selected to participate in the Senate Page Program with Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska.

He will live in Washington D.C. next semester and attend the U.S. Senate Page School with students from across the country.

Page duties consist primarily of delivering correspondence and legislative materials within the congressional complex. They may also be assigned to take messages from members and carry bills and amendments to the desk.

The Senate Page Program is eligible for high school juniors, ages 16-17, who have at least a 3.0 grade point average. Sophomores can apply for the summer session.

Those attending will have the opportunity to meet prominent national leaders and witness political debates of the U.S. Senate.
