Public member sought for APOC

Applications are being accepted through Dec. 28 for a person to serve a five-year term starting in March 2019 as the public member on the Alaska Public Offices Commission.

The individual selected will be subject to appointment by the governor and confirmation by the Legislature. Members are expected to attend one or two-day meetings in Anchorage at least three times a year and may be expected to attend additional teleconference meetings during times of peak activity.

The APOC is the state regulatory agency that administers laws requiring disclosure of financial activities of lobbyists, public officials, and candidates and groups who participate in state and local elections.

Commission members receive a $50 honorarium for each meeting day and are entitled to travel expenses and per diem. The individual selected may not participate in any political activity while serving on the commission and must file a public official financial disclosure statement required for state commissions.

Questions about the application process or the commission may be directed to executive director Heather Hebdon at heather.hebdon@alaska.gov
