Five fee free days coming for national wildlife refuges

U.S. Fish and Wildlife officials have announced five fee free admission days for all national wildlife refuges in 2019, including 16 refuges in Alaska.

The dates include Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 21; Presidents’ Day, Feb. 18; National Public Lands Day, Sept. 28; First Sunday of National Wildlife Refuge Week, Oct. 13; and Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

Refuge admission fees, which range from $3 to $8 per vehicle help fud recreation related projects in the refuges. The 2019 entrance fee waiver does not cover concessionaire or permit fees for certain activities, including hunting, fishing or special tours.
