Cadiente Brown will lead UAS Native programs

Ronalda Cadiente Brown has been named as associate vice chancellor for Alaska Native programs at the University of Alaska Southeast.

As part of her duties, she will continue to server as director of the PITAAS program – Preparing Indigenous Teachers and Administrators for Alaska’s School. She will report directly to Chancellor Rick Caulfield and work to advance programs and services at UAS that support Alaska Native students.

Cadiente Brown, who is of Tlingit and Filipino heritage, grew up in Juneau. She earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Pacific University and a master’s degree in curriculum and teacher education at Stanford. She began her career as an Indian education specialist with Portland Public Schools before returning to Alaska to serve as an administrator for Juneau Public Schools for over 28 years. Most recently she served as assistant dean at the UAS Alaska College of Education.
