Alaska Sea Grant offers seafood school course

Alaska Sea Grant is offering its Better Process Control School in Anchorage Feb. 6-8, with instruction in principles of thermal processing, equipment requirements, container closure evaluation and recordkeeping for glass jars and cans, at a cost of $480 per student.

The course is designed for retort operators, quality assurance technicians and anyone else interested in learning about these topics.

Instruction addresses both flexible pouch and traditional can retort operations and includes experience with thermal processing equipment.

Attendees will receive a certificate upon successful completion, showing that they have satisfied all federal Food and Drug Administration requirements.
