Federal moose hunt drawing application extended

With hunters out all over Alaska at the start of the moose-hunting season, this was one wise young moose who chose to show up on the Parks Highway south of Cantwell, in a state park area closed to hunting. After watching vehicles heading north to Fairbanks and south to Anchorage for a little while, the moose slipped back into the safety of the brush. (Photo by Margaret Bauman/The Cordova Times)

Applications for the federal moose hunt drawing have been extended until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, or post marked by that same day.

Applications are available at the U.S. Forest Service front desk, 612 2nd St.

The original deadline was Jan. 15 but due to the federal government shutdown, the deadline has been extended to accommodate anyone that may have missed it.
