Former Ravn Alaska supervisor sentenced for mail theft

Former Ravn Alaska supervisor Breadoflife “Presley” Faiupu, 37, of Anchorage was sentenced on Feb. 8 for stealing mail from the U.S. Post Office, including Apple computers destined for several school districts in Alaska.

U.S. District Judge Sharon L. Gleason sentenced Faiupu to five years of probation, with six months of community confinement in a halfway house. He was also ordered to pay $90,000 in restitution, joint and severally with his co-defendants, Faiupu pleaded guilty in October 2018 to one count of conspiracy and one count of mail theft.

Investigators said that Faiupu and his co-defendant, Congress Lepou, abused their jobs as supervisors at Ravn Alaska to steal computers from the mail, then recruited those whom they supervised to help find buyers for the stolen computers. The investigation showed the Faiupup and Lepou would the share proceeds of the sales with those they supervised, to ensure their silence. During the course of the conspiracy, Faiupu and Lepou stole some 60 Apple computers from the mail with a retail value of $90,000. Most of those computers were for delivery to school districts in Alaska. Lepou is scheduled for sentencing on March 13.

The mail was intended to be flown to various Alaska villages including St. Marys, Mountain Village, Stebbins, Unalakleet, Emmonak, Kotlik, Alakanuk, Aniak, Greyling, Kalskag and Koyuk, the charges say.
