The Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches recently announced several awards. The 2A All-State Selections, based on voting by coaches, include Abby Bourgeois, 1st Team Girls; Christian Adams, 1st Team Boys; and Kaiden Graves; 3rd Team Boys.

Bourgeois, a four-year starter for the Lady Wolverines, recently traveled to Anchorage to play in the Senior All-Star game.

Adams and Graves will return for their final Wolverine season next year, as the CHS boys continue to search for their first state title since the 1A-4A classification was adopted in 1983.

Coach Brad Sjostedt, who guided Lady Wolverines back to State this season, was named 2A Coach of the Year.

In other basketball news, CHS seniors Riley Butler and Billy Bailey were selected by the Cordova Referee’s Association to receive this year’s Sportsmanship Awards. And Cordova’s Arthur Adams, a 6-foot 230-pound 8th grader, has been named to a Junior NBA All-Alaska Native team that will travel to Portland, Oregon in June to compete in the Junior Global NBA Championships.
