Mallory named 2019 Wells Fargo Alaska Volunteer of the Year

Wells Fargo Cordova Branch Manager Shannon Mallory was named the 2019 Wells Fargo Alaska Volunteer of the Year.

The financial services company will donate $1,000 to Junior Achievement of Alaska in Mallory’s honor.

Mallory’s community service in Cordova is extensive and longstanding. She is actively involved in the Cordova Community Baptist Church as treasurer and music director, she serves as “unofficial treasurer,” producer and actor for Stage of the Tide theater, and she has taught Junior Achievement classes in Cordova for the last four years.

“It’s fun to see how the kids have grown their knowledge base and hear them talk about concepts they’ve learned,” Mallory said. “They are getting more and more comfortable talking to the ‘bank lady’ outside of the classroom.”

Mallory has made such an impression that the second-grade students regularly send her heartfelt thank-you cards, posters and flowers.

In Alaska, Wells Fargo team members volunteered 8,500 hours and the company donated $1.4 million to hundreds of Alaska nonprofits and schools in 2018.
