Hooligan season

Hooligan, otherwise known as “eulachon,” “oolichan” or “candlefish” are a small type of anadromous smelt that make their way into a number of rivers in Alaska during the spring spawning run. According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game there is no bag or possession limit, but just a resident Alaska sport fishing license is required. More information on subsistence permits and regulations is online at adfg.alaska.gov.
