Law & Order: June 28-July 4

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between 6-28-19 thru 7-4-19. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

JUNE 28, Friday:

9:57 a.m. Caller reported they had almost hit a dog running freely down Chase Avenue. 9:50 p.m. Caller reported a rollover accident at approximately 20-mile Copper River Highway. A Cordova Police Officer responded to the accident and assisted Alaska State Troopers with the call.

JUNE 29, Saturday:

1:52 a.m. Caller reported somebody had thrown a beer can at their head. An officer responded to the scene of the incident but was unable to locate the suspect. 8:33 a.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded to the scene and transported the patient to the hospital.

JUNE 30, Sunday: 

1:39 a.m. Caller reported fireworks going off in the harbor. An officer responded but found the source of the fireworks to be coming from a fishing vessel outside the harbor. The Alaska State Troopers were notified but the fireworks ceased before troopers were able to respond. 2:18 a.m. Caller reported a Chevy/GMC newer style truck was driving down Power Creek Road trying to run them over. The caller jumped into the lake to avoid being ran over. An officer responded to the area but was unable to find the vehicle. 3:07 a.m. An officer arrested Jonah Reutov, age 18 of Homer Alaska, for DUI.

JULY 1, Monday: 

Nothing to report.

JULY 2, Tuesday:

11:13 a.m. Caller reported an individual had kicked a dog. An officer responded to the area and was unable to locate the dog or the suspect reported. 2:02 a.m. Caller reported a boat fire in the harbor. The fire department responded; several good Samaritans assisted in extinguishing the fire.

JULY 3, Wednesday:

6:50 a.m. Caller reported they had driven off the road. An officer responded to the scene of the accident and conducted an accident report.

JULY 4, Thursday:

1:33 p.m. Caller reported a fraudulent call. An officer took the complainants information to investigate. 1:40 p.m.  Caller reported a driver swerving in and out of traffic. Vehicle had pulled into a driveway. An officer responded but was unable to locate the driver of the vehicle.9:47 p.m. Caller reported a group of people drinking publicly and acting disorderly. An office asked the group to leave. 9:47 p.m. Caller reported possible gun fire coming from a trailer court. An officer responded but was unable to locate anybody or any signs of a firearm being discharged. 11:03 p.m. An officer observed firework being lite off. The officer advised the party of the state wide burn ban and fireworks ban. The party ceased shooting fireworks without further incident.

DMV HOURS:

From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. DMV has moved to 602 Railroad Ave. Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
