Good Samaritans tow vessel back to Cordova

An engine room fire aboard a 30-foot fishing boat in Prince William Sound on the evening of July 12 was extinguished by the time Coast Guard rescuers arrived and the boat was towed to Cordova by Good Samaritans, said Petty Officer 3rd Class Amanda Norcroff.

The incident resulted in no injuries to two crew aboard the F/V Raider. The vessel was towed into Cordova by the crew of the F/V Defiance, which responded to an urgent marine information broadcast, Norcroff said.

No environmental pollution resulted and there was no damage to other people’s property, she said.
