Law & Order: July 5-11

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between 7-5-19 thru 7-11-19. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

JULY 5, Friday: 

12:01 a.m. Caller reported a noise complaint. An officer responded and located the source of the noise. 6:36 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 9:17 p.m. CCMC requested an ambulance for a medivac transport. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 10:35 p.m. Caller reported a domestic disturbance. An officer responded and arrested Christopher Marra, age 48 of Cordova Alaska, for Assault in the 4th degree.

JULY 6, Saturday:

10:13 a.m. Caller requested an ambulance responded to the airport to help with a medivac transfer from a U.S. Coast Guard aircraft. The ambulance responded but response was cancelled due to the aircraft diverting. 10:45 a.m. Caller reported a man beating on a dog. An officer responded but was unable to locate anybody in the area. 9:15 a.m. Caller reported a disorderly conduct incident. An officer responded and transported the individual reported back to his home.  9:53 p.m. Caller reported a vehicle driving down Whitshed Road was driving so close to the side of the road, it hit his hand. An officer patrolled Whitshed Road but was unable to locate the vehicle reported.

JULY 7, Sunday: 

9:41 a.m. Caller requested a welfare check. An officer responded and determined everything was OK. 10:03 a.m. Caller reported a motor vehicle accident. An officer responded and conducted an accident report. 11:58 a.m. Caller reported he found two dogs that appeared to have gotten into a porcupine. An officer responded and, with the help of the caller, got the dogs into the back of his squad car and transported the two dogs back to the owners’ residence for treatment. 2:47 p.m. Caller reported somebody was stealing electricity from their building. An officer is currently investigating this report. 2:41 a.m. Caller reported somebody using their cabin and property without their permission. An officer spoke with all parties involved and is currently investigating the report.   

JULY 8, Monday:   

3:59 a.m. Caller reported a vehicle struck a pole and the driver fled the scene. An officer is currently investigating this incident. 8:23 p.m. AT&T notified dispatch of a caller from Cordova who sounded like they may be in trouble. An officer took down the information from AT&T, but determined that the person reported does not exist in Cordova. 

JULY 9, Tuesday: 

12:59p.m. Caller reported their bike had been stolen. An officer in currently investigating this report.

JULY 10, Wednesday: 

Nothing to report.

JULY 11, Thursday: 

12:59 a.m. Caller reported a dog barking in the middle of the road. An officer responded and transported the dog to the pound.

DMV HOURS:

From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. DMV has moved to 602 Railroad Ave. Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations, citations.
