Law & Order: July 19-Aug. 1

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between 7-19-19 thru 8-1-19. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

JULY 19, Friday:

9:15 a.m. Caller reported a fight on Council Avenue. An officer responded and was unable to locate any individuals in the area.

JULY 20, Saturday:

6 a.m. Caller reported an intoxicated man walking down the sidewalk and stumbling into the street. An officer responded to the area but was unable to locate the individual. 8:16 a.m. Caller reported someone shooting off fireworks in the harbor. An officer responded and located the party and gave them a verbal warning. 9:06 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital.

JULY 21, Sunday:

11:30 a.m. Caller reported finding drug paraphernalia. An officer responded and confiscated the paraphernalia and arrested Paulito Lastimosa, age 50 of Kodiak for a warrant.

JULY 22, Monday:

4:51 p.m. Caller reported an intoxicated male walking in the road. An officer responded and located the person walking safely on the side of the road. 5:13 p.m. Caller reported hearing an explosion followed by smoke. An officer responded and found that a large diesel engine had backfired, and no explosion had occurred. 9:11 p.m. Caller reported a red truck with a black door driving recklessly around the harbor. An officer responded but was unable to locate the vehicle. 

JULY 23, Tuesday:

7:23 a.m. Caller reported they were choked during an argument. An officer responded and arrested Justin James, age 24 of Cordova, for Assault. 9 p.m. Caller reported a male entered their business and went into the women’s bathroom and would like them removed. An officer responded and removed the individual without incident. 9:46 a.m. Caller reported two individuals walking around town with open contains of alcohol. An officer responded but was unable to locate the suspects.

JULY 24, Wednesday:

12:30 a.m. Caller reported people in the high school dugout were drinking and being loud.  An officer responded and dispended the party.

JULY 25, Thursday:

12:54 a.m. Caller reported a fight happening near the docks. An officer responded but were unable to locate any suspects or victims. The group disbanded with no further incident. 6:43 a.m. Caller reported they were being harassed by a customer over the price of food. An officer responded and asked the individuals to leave. 11:03 a.m. Caller reported an intoxicated employee was trying to fight other employees. An officer responded and arrested David Gump, age 18 of Hooper Bay, for disorderly conduct and minor consuming alcohol.

JULY 26, Friday:

4:22 p.m. Caller reported a group of people openly drinking alcohol. Officer responded requesting the individuals to leave. 11:41 p.m. Caller reported a truck had almost rolled into the harbor with no one in it. The vehicle was towed to safety.   

JULY 27, Saturday:

11:36 a.m. Caller reported their vehicle had been hit by a van and it drove away. Officer responded investigating the situation. 6:05 p.m. Caller requested an individual be trespassed from their business. Officer responded trespassing the individual.

JULY 28, Sunday:

Nothing to report. 

JULY 29, Monday:

12:25 p.m. Caller reported an individual sleeping on the bench on First Street. Officer responded and the individual had left. 6:44 p.m. Caller reported her son is being disorderly and will not leave. Officer responded and found the son left when he arrived.   

JULY 30, Tuesday:

12:14 p.m. Caller reported a vehicle accident at Copper River Highway with no injuries. Officer responded investigating the situation. 11:53 p.m. Officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested Joel Hudson, age 30 of Hawaii, for DUI.  

JULY 31, Wednesday: Nothing to report.   

AUGUST 1, Thursday: 1:09 a.m. Caller requested an Officer at the Anchor Bar because a customer wanted to fight him. Officer responded and trespassed the individual from the business. 5:41 a.m. Caller reported he had received multiple threatening voice mails from an individual. Officer investigated the situation and charged the individual.  

DMV HOURS: From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. DMV is located at 602 Railroad Ave. Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
