Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute has announced the appointment of Megan Rider as domestic marketing director and Ashley Heimbigner as communications director.

Both ASMI employees have background in international marketing,

Rider, who joined ASMI in 2013, worked initially with the international program. In November 2018 she was named interim domestic marketing program director, overseeing promotions with foodservice and retail partners across the United States. Before that she worked in the office of former Gov. Sean Parnell, as well as for a lobbying firm.

Heimbigner worked as tourism and sales manager at Visit Anchorage, and also as communications manager for the Alaskan Brewing Co. in Juneau before joining ASMI in January 2018 as an international marketing specialist. She will oversee the brand and messaging priorities of ASMI, and manage ASMI’s domestic consumer public relations, in-state and fleet communications.

ASMI is a public-private partnership between the state and the Alaska seafood industry established to foster economic development of wild Alaska seafood, and to position Alaska’s seafood industry as a competitive market-driven food production industry.
