Law & Order: Aug. 23-Sept. 5

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between Aug. 23-Sept. 5, 2019. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, Aug. 23:
2:14 p.m. Caller reported someone driving recklessly. Officer responded, speaking to all parties involved.

Saturday, Aug. 24:
9:18 p.m. Caller reported several individuals parked by Nirvana Park with open bottles on the vehicle. Officer responded, finding the vehicle but was unable to find anyone in the area.

Sunday, Aug. 25:
2:44 a.m. Caller reported a friend had gone out hiking and had not returned yet. Later on in the day, the caller reported that the friend had made it home.

Monday, Aug. 26:
Nothing to report.

Tuesday, Aug. 27:
11:52 a.m. Caller reported items had been stolen from his cabin. Officer responded, investigating the situation.

Wednesday, Aug. 28:
Nothing to report.

Thursday, Aug. 29:
Nothing to report.

Friday, Aug. 30:
7:59 a.m. Caller requested a welfare check on a man, who did not seem well, on Second Street. Officer responded, unable to locate the individual.

Saturday, Aug. 31:
4:35 p.m. Caller reported that items had been stolen from his property. Officer responded, investigating the situation.

Sunday, Sept. 1:
Nothing to report.

Monday, Sept. 2:
11:24 a.m. Caller reported three fully involved cabin fires at Boswell Bay. Forest Service, Alaska Wildlife Troopers and the United States Coast Guard were advised of the situation. Caller reported that 15 civilians were on scene and extinguished the fire.

Tuesday, Sept. 3:
8:22 p.m. CCMC requested an ambulance for a medical transport to the 13-mile airport. The ambulance responded and provided transport. 8:30 p.m. Caller stated that her husband was intoxicated and that she was in danger. An officer responded and arrested Peter Masolini, 39, of Cordova Alaska, for Assault in the 4th degree and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd degree.

Wednesday, Sept. 4:
1:55 a.m. CCMC requested an ambulance for a medical transport to Merle K. (Mudhole) Smith Airport. An ambulance responded and provided transport. 5:00 p.m. Caller requested an officer respond to the fish cleaning station for an intoxicated pedestrian who was trying to get into a vehicle and drive away. An officer responded and arrested Benjamin Songer, 40, of Cordova, Alaska, for felony DUI.

Thursday, Sept. 5:
9:22 a.m. Caller reported a Nissan Pathfinder had just driven into a ditch. An officer responded and arrested Daury Milo Rodriguez, 18, of Cordova, Alaska, for DUI. 7:29 p.m. Caller reported a vehicle driving across the double yellow lines and swerving across the road. An officer responded but was unable to locate the vehicle. 8:49 p.m. Caller reported they were hiking on Saddlebag Glacier Trail and got lost. The Alaska State Troopers, Forest Service Law Enforcement and the Cordova Volunteer Fire Department all responded and located the lost hiker.

DMV hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. unless otherwise posted. DMV is located at 602 Railroad Ave. Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
