Alaska Conservation Foundation achievement awards announced

Among the award winners of the Alaska Conservation Foundation’s annual achievement awards ceremonies in Anchorage on Oct. 3 were Anchorage attorney Heather Kendall Miller and the Alaska Longline Fishermen’s Association. Miller, who is of Athabascan heritage, was awarded the Caleb Pungowiyi Award for Outstanding Achievements by an Alaska Native organization or individual.

The Lowell Thomas Jr. Award for Outstanding Achievements by a conservation organization went to ALFA. Linda Behnken, who as executive director of ALFA has led efforts to education young seafood harvesters to be successful in business, accepted the award from Michael Barber, executive director of ACF.
