If you are a fan of Henry James classic tale “The Turn of the Screw,” you might enjoy this summer 2019 release by author Ruth Ware — “The Turn of the Key” now on the shelf in the Cordova Public Library.

Ruth Ware is a British psychological crime thriller author. Her novels include: “In a Dark, Dark Wood,” “The Woman in Cabin 10,” “The Lying Game” and “The Death of Mrs. Westaway.”

This long-awaited novel is Gothic inspiration meets modern technology. A clever update on James’ classic, but instead of ghosts, Ware’s characters are haunted by unpredictable smart homes and surveillance technology.

Here’s a short teaser: “… when she stumbles across the ad, she’s looking for something else completely. But it seems like too good an opportunity to miss — a live-in nannying post, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when Rowan Caine arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten by the luxurious ‘smart’ home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family.”

Intrigued yet? Ruth Ware grew up in Sussex, on the South Coast of England. After graduating from Manchester University, she moved to Paris, before settling in North London. She has worked as a waitress, a book seller, a teacher of English as a foreign language and a press officer. She is married with two small children.

Happy Reading!
