The trial of a Cordova man accused of manslaughter has been delayed from December to February.

Jesse James Jones, 50, of Cordova, was charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, driving under the influence, and misconduct involving weapons in the fourth degree following an Oct. 8 crash. During the incident, Jones’s Chevrolet Blazer evidently rolled into Eyak Lake while navigating a corner on Power Creek Road, according to court documents. Jones’s passenger, Andrey Plisko, was pronounced dead following the accident. Breath alcohol tests indicated Jones had a blood alcohol content of 0.177, more than twice the legal limit, according to court documents.

After being indicted Oct. 15, Jones was released on $10,000 cash bail. Monday, Dec. 2, Jones motioned to substitute Anchorage attorney Moshe Zorea for the public defender who had previously represented him. At a pre-trial conference the following morning, Zorea successfully motioned to delay Jones’s trial from the week of Dec. 9 to the week of Feb. 3. This delay was necessary to review case materials, which were substantial, Zorea said. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for Jan. 28.
