ANMC cited for quality improvement

Alaska Native Medical Center has been recognized by the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program as “meritorious” in quality improvement.

ANMC is the largest division of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, which announced in late November that ANMC was deemed “meritorious” for outstanding quality scores in eight surgical care outcome areas.

ANMC was one of 88 of 592 eligible hospitals participating in the program nationwide this year to be so recognized by the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program. Participating hospital are required to track he outcomes of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures in eight clinical areas that include cardiac arrest, myocardial infarction and pneumonia.

The American College of Surgeons is a scientific and educational organization of surgeons whose purpose is to raise standards of surgical practice and improve the quality of care for surgical patients.
