Magic of the Seasons Christmas Party
Mt. Eccles Elementary School 5th and 6th graders will lead students, grades K through 4th, in a variety of Winter Solstice themed UV light and fluorescent crafts from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 at Mt. Eccles. Before and after crafting, 5th and 6th graders will have time on their own for fluorescent face-painting and a game of tag under blacklights in the gym.
Winter Break
Mt. Eccles Elementary School students will be released at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 for Winter Break. School resumes Monday, Jan. 6.
Moonlight Madness Food Court
The food court is open at the Cordova Center during Moonlight Madness from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday Dec. 20. Seating will be available.
9th Annual Bluegrass Ball
Alaska’s own Bearfoot Bluegrass including local Cordova musician Mike Mickelson will be headlining this year’s 9th Annual Bluegrass Ball on Dec. 20 and 21 in Girdwood. After a six-year break from touring, the group is reuniting for their 20-year anniversary at Alyeska Resort’s annual Bluegrass Ball at the Sitzmark Bar and Grill. The event kicks off at 9 p.m. for ages 21 and over. Cost is $10.
Saturday Market
The next Cordova Saturday Market will be from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Masonic Lodge.
Certified Nurse Aid Class

Tip-Off Tournament
The 38th Annual Cordova Tip-Off Basketball Tournament is scheduled for Jan. 16 through 18 at the CHS gymnasium. Teams include Cordova, Wasilla, Scammon Bay and Unalaska. ICC Membership Dinner
The 3rd Annual Ilanka Cultural Center Membership Dinner will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at the Cordova Center. Winter Disco
The Cordova Arts and Pageants presents the return of wearable art with a Winter Disco, An Ultra Violet Event on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Cordova Center North Star Theatre. Harbor Arts heART SHOW
The heART SHOW now features works from Harbor Arts artists. As arts pieces sell, they may be taken home and new works will go up in their place. A percentage of sales will go to Cordova Arts and the show will hang until late December.
Open gym for Cordova’s youth

The Bidarki Rec Center opens the upstairs gym for little ones 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Toys, mats and other items are provided so tots and their caregivers can enjoy some free, inside playtime, rain or shine. There is no fee to attend.

Morning Music
Elementary school children are welcome to come and sing and play guitar, fiddle, ukulele, bass, mandolin, and banjo from 8:05 a.m. to 8:40 a.m. on Thursdays and Fridays at the elementary school music room. Older kids, parents and community members are welcome and needed as helpers. Pre-schoolers can come with their parents or caregivers.

Life Hacks for Kids
Life Hacks for Kids is a free weekly after-school program at Cordova Public Library for students grades four through six. Students will learn useful life skills such as using common household tools, restaurant etiquette and ordering, grocery shopping, laundry, camping, first aid and fire safety, and basic sewing. Gospel sing-along

Bring your knitting and join the Knit & Lit Book Club at 7 p.m. at the fireplacein the Cordova Public Library, the last Tuesday of every month.
Ilanka community wellness and recovery support circle
A wellness and recovery support circle will meet on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at the Ilanka Wellness Center located at the old DMV office across from St. George’s Episcopal Church.
