Rasmuson Foundation seeks artist applications

Rasmuson Foundation is accepting applications through March 2 for project awards and fellowships for individual artists, groups and collaboratives, including musical bands, dance companies and multimedia collectives.

The awards would support artistic growth and exploration of new creative ground for artists living and working in Alaska. Last year award recipients came from 18 different communities, from Chevak, Nome and Sitka to Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau.

Project awards of $7,500 are offered for short-term project that benefits the artist’s growth. Artists at all career stages are eligible to apply for an award in 11 recognized disciplines.

Fellowships of $18,000 are for mid-career and mature artists who want to focus their energy and attention on a yearlong period of creative exploration. The 2020 fellowship categories are media arts, multidiscipline, music composition, new genre, presentation/interpretation and visual arts.

Those chosen for the awards will receive a grant plus promotion of their work and professional development provided by the Anchorage Museum, with a focus on continued skill development in marketing finances, creation of work samples and more.
