Burn victim evacuated from fishing vessel

A 43-year-old crewman with severe burns aboard the fishing vessel Bountiful was medevaced by the U.S. Coast Guard on Monday, Jan. 27, from the 46 miles southwest of Saint Paul and transported to Saint Paul for further transport to Anchorage.

Coast Guard 17th District watchstanders dispatched aid after receiving a call for help shortly before 10 a.m.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Kodiak safely hoisted the patient from the fishing vessel on stormy seas at 2:56 p.m. On scene weather conditions during the medevac were 46 mile an hour winds, with 8-foot to 12-foot seas and 12 miles visibility.
