Mahoney named as state’s revenue commissioner

Business consultant and investment manager Lucinda Mahoney, a former chief financial officer for the municipality of Anchorage, has been appointed by Gov. Mike Dunleavy to serve as the commissioner of the Alaska Department of Revenue.

The appointment made on Feb. 4 is subject to approval by the Alaska Legislature.

Mahoney, the owner of Value Solutions, LLC, has also served as the executive director of the Arctic Slope Regional Development’s shared services center and as a director with KPMG LLP.

She has 30 years of experience in consulting, treasury, debt management, accounting, budgeting and business development. She also holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Alaska and is certified by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

Mike Barnhill, who was appointed as acting commissioner in December, will now serve as the agency’s deputy commissioner.
