Western Alaska science conference set for April 2-4

Fisheries, rural education, arts, culture and the social and ecological impacts of climate change are on the agenda for the Western Alaska Interdisciplinary Science Conference, set for April 2-4 in Dillingham.

This year’s theme is “Visions for the Future.”

Plenary speakers include Guy McPherson, professor emeritus of the University of Arizona’s School of Natural Resources; Gayla Hoseth, director of Natural Resources, Bristol Bay Native Association; weather expert Rick Thoman and post-doctoral fellow Adeheid Herman, both of the International Arctic Research Center.

The annual conference is hosted by the University of Alaska Fairbanks’ Bristol Bay campus, with website services provided by Alaska Sea Grant.
