Alaska’s own super athlete, Nick Hanson, better known as the “Eskimo Ninja” of NBC’s American Ninja Warrior competition, is now streaming live, at-home workouts on GCI’s Facebook page for Alaskans hunkered down at home.

The live workouts are being broadcast from Hanson’s home in Unalakleet every Thursday at noon Alaska standard time.

“During these trying health and economic times, it is important to remember to take care not only of physical health, but mental health,” Hanson said. “GCI allows me to be able to bring these fun, adaptable workouts to people across the state.”

His at-home workouts include moves that can easily be completed without extra equipment. Tune in for the next two sessions on April 9 and April 16.

GCI officials said they are also taking other steps to keep Alaskans connected, including offering free Internet upgrades for customers, free entry-level plans for those who wish to sign up or service and waiving credit checks and deposits for qualifying students and teachers.

“Nick is so inspiring to Alaskans across the state and his platform is especially important today while folks are keeping to themselves and spending more time in their homes,” said Kate Slyker, chief marketing officer for GCI. “We hope he can continue to motivate us all to stay active while working and learning from home and let off some steam during a stressful time.”
