Christian Adams, a 6-3 Cordova Wolverine standout, was recently named Alaska 2A Player of the Year by the Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches.
Kaiden Graves, another high-scoring senior for the Wolverines, was tabbed for second team honors.
Adams and Graves led Cordova to a 20-5 overall record, but hopes for a shot at the 2A State titled ended when the final round of the Interior Conference Playoffs, as well as the state tournament itself, were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Both players hope to continue playing basketball at the college level, but tryouts and recruiting have also been impacted by the virus.
Adams and Lady Wolverine Jacey Pallas received this year’s Annual Cordova Referee Association Sportsmanship Awards.
Adam’s younger brother Arthur, who played varsity ball as a freshman for the Wolverines this year, has been invited to travel with an Alaska Blue & Gold All-Star squad of players ages 15 or under that will compete in the Lower 48 this summer, but that also is currently on hold.
