Officials with Native Village of Eyak, The Eyak Corporation and Cordova Community Medical Center are banding together to provide financial relief for Cordova as the community faces the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

NVE’s Ilanka Community Health Center and CCMC have identified equipment and other critical needs to be purchased with $200,000 in financial aid authorized by The Eyak Corporation board of directors during a special telephonic meeting of its board on April 13.

“We’re fortunate to be able to give back and hep our local clinics get the supplies and equipment they need right now,” said Martin Parsons, chairman of Eyak Corporation board. “Though Cordova has yet to see a case of COVID-19, our community is vulnerable, and TEC wants to do our part to ensure we can be prepared.”

“In rural communities, we all pull together and support each other,” said Sylvia Lange, owner of The Reluctant Fisherman. “As a small business owner and one of The Eyak Corp.’s shareholders, I’m thankful to see this cooperative effort and I’m proud of my village corporation”

The Eyak Corp. is an Alaska Native village firm formed under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. Its mission is to return financial benefits to current and future shareholders through economic development and growth of assets, while protecting ownership of Native lands and cultural heritage.
