On the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, we as a global community are facing two major crises. One of those is at the forefront of everyone’s mind – COVID-19, but the other crisis is a slowly building disaster and also demands our attention. And while we are still working through the challenges of preparing for a global pandemic there is hope that we have the ability to act in response to a changing climate. That’s why this year’s theme for Earth Day is Climate Action.
CT-04-24-earth-day-bingo-card-1To encourage people to take action for the planet and to focus on positive change, Copper River Watershed Project is going to be celebrating Earth Day for a full week starting Wednesday, April 22. The Earth does so much for us every day and Earth Day is about being thankful for the wonders of Earth and giving back. But not only is it important to practice thankfulness, we hope it will put a smile on your face and lift your spirits during this troubling time! This Earth Week we invite you to take positive action for the Earth, even if it is just a small thing like putting out a bird feeder, picking up a couple of pieces of litter, or planting seeds for a garden.
For some Earth Day fun we invite everyone to join us in Earth Week celebrations by playing Earth Week Bingo! To make it extra fun and light-hearted, earth-themed costumes are highly encouraged when playing Earth Week Bingo. Check off 5 boxes in a row to win a reusable tote bag from CRWP. Every family that submits their bingo card will be entered in a grand prize drawing for Boris the stuffed moose, donated by COPE Books and Toys.
If you are picking up litter as part of Earth Day Bingo please be sure to wear gloves and a mask and follow safe physical distancing guidelines from others in the community. We also ask that you dispose of litter you pick-up in your personal trash can.
