Grants from the Alaska Community Foundation totaling $5,000 are helping the Cordova Community Medical Center and the Cordova Family Resource Center to fill basic needs, says Kristin Carpenter, advisory board chair or the Cordova Community Foundation.

CCF is among 11 affiliated community foundations who have benefitted to date in 2020 from ACF grants that support basic needs ranging from medical and family resources to food pantries and senior services.

The $55,000 in grants distributed in March included $2,500 to the Cordova Community Medical Center for its Sound Alternatives program, plus $2,500 for the Cordova Family Resources Center.

“The Cordova Community Foundation was thrilled to collaborate on the basic needs grant and identify the best local candidates for this gift to fund essential services,” Carpenter said.

The Cordova Community Foundation became an affiliate of ACF in 2019 and during their first year has already distributed $8,000 in local grants.
