JBER Flyover
Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson is saluting COVID-19 responders and essential workers with flights over several Alaska communities on May 12, 13 and 15. In the early afternoon of May 15, two C-17 Globemaster IIIs will fly over Cordova. Detailed flight routes and estimated flight times will be released the day prior to each flyover on facebook.com/JBERAK. Class of 2020 Graduation
Cordova Jr. Sr. High School’s 100th Commencement will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 and will be broadcasted via CHS’s YouTube Channel at Cordova Wolverines Live Event Streaming at tinyurl.com/yah7yydf.

Centennial Drive
Cordova’s 100th graduating class will caravan through town 7 p.m. Saturday, May 16. The route begins at the ferry terminal, continues through First Street, to the CHS ball field loop road, on to Chase Avenue, Le Fevre and ending at the City Municipal Airfield on Eyak Lake. The community is invited to park or stand along the route and cheer on the graduates.

Lip Sync Battle
Cordova’s High School choir is battling in a Lip Sync Battle Tournament. Watch videos each week and vote for your favorite “singer” to advance them to the next round. Voting closes Monday at 9 a.m. Videos will be posted in the discussion section of the event page at facebook.com/events/1288175841392981.

Pajama read along
The Cordova Public Library is hosting a digital “read along” with Anna Hernandez on an Instagram live feed starting at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays each week. Content is geared towards ages 10 and up. Follow and read along @cordovapubliclibraryreads. Participants must have an Instagram account. Email anna@cordovalibrary.org for more information.

Community COVID-19 update schedule
For the next few weeks, the City of Cordova COVID-19 Public Information Team will be hosting a new live streamed Community Update at 4 p.m. every Tuesday in addition to its Weekly Press Briefing at 4 p.m. on Fridays. The broadcast featuring reports and guest commentary from community and business partners, industry and medical professionals and response collaborators will be streamed live to the City’s YouTube channel and will be shared on Facebook via Facebook.com/groups/CordovaPrepared.

Children’s Bible story
The Little Chapel will post a new 10 to 15-minute children’s Bible story each weekday at 1 p.m. on their Facebook page. The videos will stay on their page if you weren’t able to tune in live.

CORDOVID tournament
If you have a Nintendo Switch and Mario Kart 8, a daily Mario Kart activity allows you to socialize remotely. The Net Loft is hosting a virtual handcraft gathering at their usual in-person meeting time of noon on Wednesday. Regular City Council meetings
Regular meetings are scheduled at 7 p.m. the first and third Wednesday of each month. The agenda is established on the Friday prior to each meeting date and posted at the post office, library, city hall lobby, the Cordova Center entrance bulletin board and on the city website at cityofcordova.net.
