Cordova City Council will discuss whether to plan for a complete lifting of emergency public health restrictions at a noon Wednesday, May 27 special meeting.

The city plans to remain at its current level of limited reopening until at least Monday, June 1. However, after June 1, the city may choose to align with the state’s rapid reopening, to pursue a more gradual reopening, or to keep public health rules as they are. The public is invited to email their comments to council members in advance of the May 27 special meeting, according to a release by the city of Cordova. The meeting will be streamed on YouTube.

Under current rules, gatherings of up to 20 people are permitted, so long as they remain at least 6 feet apart. All community members are required to wear masks at all times while on Cordova’s docks, while at Cordova Harbor or while at local businesses.

As of Tuesday, May 26, 397 coronavirus tests have been conducted in Cordova, according to a release by the city. Of those tests, 392 have been negative, one has been positive and four are awaiting results. Community health care providers currently have the capacity to perform over 1,100 tests.
