New information offered on CARES funding

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I wanted to provide a short update on Alaska’s CARES funding as there have been several new developments.

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has updated its website with new information on Alaska’s $50 million in CARES fisheries relief, including who is eligible, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s starting methodology, how to apply (you can’t yet), as well as an anticipated timeline.

The short of it is, ADF&G is awaiting further direction from NOAA to formulate a spend plan, but in the meantime, is conducting some initial work. Please take a look athttps://bit.ly/3dfI8f8 for more information and reach out to me or ADF&G directly at dfg.com.caresact@alaska.gov if you are interested in offering your input.

You can also sign up for regular updates on this process from ADF&G at:https://bit.ly/3etq4y3 . As soon as there is an opportunity for stakeholders to become more involved in the formulation of a spend plan, I will be sure to update you as well.

The administration has announced that the AK CARES Small Business Grant Program will start accepting applications on June 1st. The application will be available on Credit Union 1’s website upon the program’s launch. Once available, a link to the application and submission button will be provided at https://www.commerce.alaska.gov/web/ded/AKCARESGrant.aspx. The most up-to-date and detailed information on the program can be found at the above website as well.
