Obituary: Zakary Allen Zeigler

Zakary Allen Zeigler.

Zakary Allen Zeigler passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, May 28, 2020, after a boating accident on Eyak Lake, in Cordova, Alaska. He was son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He will be greatly missed by all.

Zak was born on May 5, 1999, in Anchorage, Alaska to Scott and Brenda (Forsman) Zeigler. He attended Cordova public schools and was well-known in the coastal community. He was a commercial fisherman, having worked on the F/V H n H, the F/V Hero and the F/V Patience. He began fishing when he was 14 years old. During the winter months, he worked at the Mt. Eyak Ski Area.

Zak was known for his willingness to do whatever it took to get the job done, his pleasant disposition, and kind and soft heart which seemed to have no end.

Zak leaves behind his father, Scott Allen Zeigler; his sister, Cortney Lynn Zeigler and her daughter Freya Jean Guillemette; and his half-brother, Mike Drost. Also surviving are his grandparents, Charles and Diane Forsman of Maine; Aunt Debra Zeigler Walsh and her husband John of Maine; Uncle Lance Zeigler and his wife Janelle of Maine; Uncle Douglas Zeigler and his wife Dale of Massachusetts; Uncle Brian Forsman and his wife Debbie of Tennessee.

There are cousins and any friends too numerous to list who miss him. Zak was predeceased by his mother Brenda Forsman Zeigler and his grandparents Melvin and Carolyn Zeigler.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 5 at the Mt Eyak Ski Area in Cordova, Alaska.
