Law & Order: June 12-25

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between June 12 and June 25. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.


JUNE 12, Friday:

1:26 a.m. Caller reported a bear in the yard. An officer responded but the bear had already left the area. 1:50 a.m. Caller reported an individual was unconscious in the front seat of a black SUV. An officer responded and arrested Hunter Schultz, age 26 of Cordova, for refusal to submit and resisting arrest. 12:13 a.m. Caller requested a welfare check on an individual on Lake Avenue. An officer responded but was unable to locate the individual in question. 3:08 p.m. Caller reported a bear in their trash. An officer responded to the area and warned citizens entering the area of the bear threat.

JUNE 13, Saturday:

JUNE 14, Sunday:

11:23 a.m. Caller reported an intoxicated individual. An officer responded and took the individual in for their own safety.

MAY 15, Monday:

2:34 a.m. CCMC requested an ambulance for a medical transport to the 13-mile airport. An ambulance responded and provided transport. 4:28 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance for assistance. An ambulance responded and rendered aid. 6:12 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded to the scene finding the patient deceased. 8:28 p.m. Caller reported a domestic dispute. Two officers responded to the scene and separated the parties. 11:32 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital.

MAY 16, Tuesday:

2:15 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 11:56 p.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested David Johannessen, age 33 of Cordova, for driving while revoked.

MAY 17, Wednesday:

1:34 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. An ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 3:42 p.m. Caller reported a theft from their yard. An officer is investigating this circumstance. 5:56 p.m. Caller reported a possible intoxicated driver. An officer responded but was unable to locate the reported vehicle.

MAY 18, Thursday:

9:46 a.m. Caller reported a bear had been sited at the Hollins Hendricks Park.

JUNE 19, Friday:

Nothing to report.

JUNE 20, Saturday:

11:30 a.m. Caller reported a dog barking. An officer responded but could not hear any dogs barking in the area.

JUNE 21, Sunday:

12:01 a.m. Caller reported people trying to get into vehicles on First Street. An officer patrolled the area but was unable to locate anybody on First Street.

JUNE 22, Monday:

12:08 a.m. Alaska Airlines requested an officer for an intoxicated passenger. An officer responded and provided transport for the passenger. 6:46 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance for a medical transport from the hospital to the airport. 11:47 p.m. Caller reported loud music coming from a house. An officer responded to the residence and asked the residents to turn down their music.

JUNE 23, Tuesday:

Nothing to report.

JUNE 24, Wednesday:

11:15 a.m. Caller reported their dog had been stolen from their yard, an officer investigated and discovered that the incident was a misunderstanding.

JUNE 25, Thursday:

1:15 a.m. Caller reported a fight at a neighboring house. An officer responded but the fight had already broken up and the parties had separated. 4:11 a.m. Caller reported an individual involved in an earlier altercation was on a fishing boat. An officer responded to the area, but the boat had already departed.

DMV hours

From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. DMV is located at 602 Railroad Ave. Payments are now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
