Law & Order: June 26-July 9

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between June 26-July 9. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.


Friday, June 26
12:15 p.m. Caller reported money had been stolen out of their online banking account. An officer is investigating this report. 12:28 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 3:49 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital.

Saturday, June 27
2:16 p.m. Caller reported vehicle damage after they had to swerve their vehicle to avoid children playing in the road. An officer responded and investigated the incident.

Sunday, June 28
9:32 a.m. Caller reported their property had been damaged by their neighbor. An officer stood by while the issue was resolved. 11:19 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital.

Monday, June 29
12:08 p.m. Caller reported their neighbor was causing problems and was trespassing on their property. An officer responded and trespassed the neighbor from the caller’s property. 9:34 p.m. Caller reported an individual behaving oddly and had been driving a truck. The caller was worried they may be driving intoxicated. An officer responded finding the driver to not be intoxicated and issued a citation for having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

Tuesday, June 30
6:15 p.m. Caller reported they were sexually assaulted. An officer responded and is investigating this circumstance.

Thursday, July 2
12:37 p.m. Caller reported a fire alarm at a local cannery. A fire officer responded to the scene and determined it was a false alarm. 7:20 a.m. Caller reported David Johannessen was breaking his conditions of release. Two officers responded and arrested David Johannessen, age 33, of Cordova, Alaska, for drinking alcohol while having court ordered conditions that prohibited it.

Friday, July 3
Nothing to report.

Saturday, July 4
9:25 a.m. Caller requested an ambulance. An officer and an ambulance responded to the residence and transported the patient to the hospital. 1:40 p.m. Caller reported somebody had trespassed on their property. An officer investigated the report and then charged Timothy Miller, age 58, of Cordova, Alaska, for criminal trespass.

Sunday, July 5
3:44 p.m. Caller reported a domestic dispute that had resulted in an assault. An officer investigated the circumstance and arrested Daniel Jeppson, age 36 of Cordova, Alaska, for burglary in the 1st degree, assault in the 3rd degree, theft in the 2nd degree, theft in the 4th degree, and reckless endangerment.

Monday, July 6
Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital.

Tuesday, July 7
Nothing to report.

Wednesday, July 8
1:05 p.m. Caller reported a verbal argument and threats on more than one occasion from the same individual. An officer is investigating these events. 12:41 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 8:42 Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital.

Thursday, July 9
2:48 p.m. Caller reported minors entering the home of a resident who is out of town. An officer responded and is investigating. 5:08 p.m. Caller requested a welfare check.

DMV hours
From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. DMV is located at 602 Railroad Ave. Payments are now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
