The city of Cordova has escalated its public health alert level in response to community spread of the novel coronavirus. The city announced its 13th, 14th and 15th cases of the virus Friday, July 31. The three newly identified coronavirus-positive individuals are all Cordova residents, according to data published by the city.

The state has been notified of the new cases, and the city’s medical team is working to identify people who may have had contact with the newly identified coronavirus-positive individuals.

Under COVID-19 Health Alert Level 3, the city may request the voluntary implementation of measures to prevent spread of the virus. In a release, city officials asked community members to exercise a high degree of caution.
