Law & Order: July 17-23

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police department between July 17-23. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.


Friday, July 17

2:50 p.m. Taylor Fire Company called reporting an automated fire alarm at the Cordova Community Medical Center. Two fire officers responded to the alarm and determined that alarm was false.

Saturday, July 18

12:04 a.m. An individual came to the station reporting a loud noise that had occurred outside their house. An officer responded to the scene and found the complainants neighbors where the source of the noise and asked them to keep it down.

1:16 a.m. Caller reported their home had been burglarized. An officer spoke with the complainant and is currently investigating the crime. 8:41 p.m. Caller reported their hotel room had been burglarized. An officer responded to the scene and is currently investigating the crime. 1:26 p.m. Caller reported they had dropped their wallet in front of a store and when they recovered it later that day, it was missing items. An officer spoke with the complainant and is currently investigating the report.

Monday, July 20

10:38 p.m. Caller reported that their apartment had been burglarized while they were away from their home for the weekend. An officer responded to the scene and is currently investigating the crime.

Tuesday, July 21

4:37 a.m. Caller reported that they had woken up to a male in a green hoodie inside their home. After the homeowner had made their presence known, the intruder fled the home. An officer responded to the scene and is currently investigating the crime.

Wednesday, July 22

An officer located Daniel Jeppson living on somebody else’s property without permission. Daniel Jeppson, age 36, of Cordova, Alaska, was arrested for criminal trespassing. Additionally, he was charged with burglary in the second degree, three counts of theft in the fourth degree, two counts of criminal trespass in the second degree, and three counts of violation of conditions of release for a series of prior crimes that had occurred in the community over the past few weeks. 7:45 p.m. An officer conducted a search of Daniel Jeppson in the Cordova Jail after witnessing suspicious behavior. The officer found a small container of contraband and Daniel Jeppson was charged with promoting contraband.

Thursday, July 23

DMV hours
From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. DMV is located at 602 Railroad Ave. Payments are now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
