Pregnant crewmember aided by Coast Guard

A pregnant crewmember aboard the factory trawler Northern Jaeger, 200 miles northwest of St. Paul, was medevaced by the Coast Guard on Saturday, Aug. 8, after reportedly experiencing medical complications due to pregnancy.

Coast Guard officials said the 22-year-old woman was hoisted aboard a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Kodiak and transported to a LifeMed flight team in Cold Bay, for transport to a higher level of medical care.

An Air Station Kodiak aircrew aboard a HC-130J Super Hercules aircraft also provided support for the transfer, Coast Guard officials said.
