Cook Inlet Tribal Council acquires employment firm

Cook Inlet Tribal Council has acquired Alaska Native Hire from Cook Inlet Region Inc. to help Alaska Native and American Indian job seekers statewide find employment opportunities within the state.

“With AHN the jobs find you, so I know it will be an essential tool in helping our people connect with meaningful employment and career development within CITC and in the community,” said Nikki Graham, director of Alaska’s people, the CITC entity for recruiting and workforce development.

Since reorganizing in 2019, Alaska’s People has been the go-to resource for Alaska Native and American Indians seeking meaningful employment and career development opportunities, CITC officials said.

ANH was created by CIRI in 2016 as an online forum for Alaska Natives to connect directly with employers seeking to hire locally. While the website was successful in connecting many job seekers and employers, CIRI and CITC leadership concluded that their clients would benefit from being connected to CITC’s existing network of employment resources.

ANH will build on existing tools Alaska’s People uses to connect people to jobs,” said Gloria O’Neill, president and CEO of CITC. “Job seekers can create a profile or ‘virtual resume’ that highlights their experience, skills, education and employment history. Employers can search the database for specific skill sets to fill vacant positions.”
