Clean water project grants applications open

State environmental officials are accepting project online applications through Nov. 9 for Alaska Clean Water Actions (ACWA) grant program funding.

According to Randy Bates, DEC’s director of the Division of Water, the agency partners with boots-on-the-ground local organizations, which use these funds to take care of water bodies where they live, work and play.

The program is managed in conjunction with the departments of Natural Resources and Fish and Game. Grants may be used for a variety of projects ranging from water quality monitoring, public outreach and watershed planning to construction of green infrastructure.

The application period opened Sept. 28.

Information about the ACWA grants priorities and the solicitation process is at dec.alaska.gov/water/water-actions/acwa-application.
