Law & Order: Sept. 25-Oct. 1

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between Sept. 25-Oct. 1. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, Oct. 2
10:24 a.m. An individual visited the station to conduct a background check for employment purposes. 12:16 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 2:59 p.m. Caller reported a vessel possibly adrift. Dispatch notified the Alaska State Troopers and the U.S. Coast Guard of the report. 3:26 p.m. An officer fingerprinted an individual for employment purposes. 3:40 p.m. Caller reported a large tree leaning across Lake Avenue. Dispatched notified Department of Transportation and city of Cordova Public Works Department. 4:48 p.m. Caller reported a stop sign being knocked over and picked up into the air by the wind. Dispatch notified the city streets department. 5:50 p.m. Caller reported the tin roof of the Ocean Beauty Cannery was being ripped off by the wind. Dispatch notified an officer as well as responsible party for Ocean Beauty. 7:19 p.m. Caller reported a tree had been knocked over on Whitshed Road. Dispatch contacted DOT who responded. 7:39 p.m. An officer notified dispatch that the roof of one of the Ski Hill buildings was damaged by wind. 9:21 p.m. Caller reported major damage to their shop roof. Dispatch notified the on-duty officer. Two officers conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.

Saturday, Oct. 3
4:05 p.m. Caller reported a large, controlled fire occurring at a neighbor’s house and the air smelled of burnt diesel fuel. Dispatch contacted a fire officer who asked the group to put the controlled burn out. 4:30 p.m. An individual came to the station to speak to an officer about a confidential matter.

Sunday, Oct. 4
8:40 a.m. Caller reported being harassed by an individual in town. An officer is currently investigating the incident. 12:35 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 4:03 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 5:03 p.m. Caller reported a noise complaint. An officer responded to the source of the noise and spoke with the individual.

Monday, Oct. 5
11:34 p.m. Caller reported a vehicle blocking the roadway. An officer responded to the scene and determined the vehicle was parked legally. 12:57 p.m. An officer located the owner of an abandoned vehicle and asked them to move it. 2:52 p.m. Caller requested a welfare check. An officer conducted a search for the individual but was unable to locate them. 3:54 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 5:54 p.m. Two officers went to the Cordova Community Medical Center for follow up on a current case. 9:38 p.m. Caller reported an intoxicated individual. An officer responded and gave the individual a ride for their safety. Two officers conducted an after-hours security check at the 13-mile airport.

Tuesday, Oct. 6
12:23 p.m. The Cordova Community Medical Center reported they needed an officer for a possible victim in the hospital. An officer responded and started an investigation. 1:53 p.m. Caller reported an incident of fraud that had occurred. 4:05 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 5:08 p.m. An officer conducted a random breath test on an individual who is on pre-trial supervision. 5:59 p.m. An officer fingerprinted an individual for employment purposes. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.

Wednesday, Oct. 7
12:21 p.m. An officer provided security of the 13-mile airport. 4:06 p.m. An officer provided security of the 13-mile airport. 7:50 p.m. Caller reported an assault at their property. An officer responded but was unable to locate the suspect.

Thursday, Oct. 8
3:11 p.m. A caller reported a possible suicide. Officers and EMS responded. 8:22 p.m. An officer contacted an individual to trespass them from a local property. 9:48 p.m. An officer responded to a residence for follow up on a current case. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.

From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Thursday unless otherwise posted. Closed for lunch 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Credit Card payments accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations at DMV.
