Veterans Day
Veterans Day is November 11, in honor of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918 that marked the end of World War I. The holiday commemorates veterans of all wars. History.com reports that in 2017, the top three states with the highest percentage of Veterans were Alaska, Maine and Montana, respectively.
Bob Ross month
November is “Have a Happy Little” Bob Ross month at the Cordova Museum. Happenings include a Bob Ross quilt display from Cherrywood Fabrics, a “Happy Little” Bob Ross paint-along with Copper River Canvas, door prizes, an original Bob Ross-inspired dance performance by Current Rhythms and an art exhibit by local artists. TEEN/YA Art

Salvation Army Food Pantry

Call for artists
Copper River Art Gallery welcomes Cordova artists, 18 and up, working in all mediums to submit “Quarantine Dreams” themed art for an upcoming show. Native Village of Eyak hosts story time each week at 4 p.m. Thursdays via Zoom. Cordova Community Medical Center’s Sound Alternatives clinic offers a free online support group for friends and family of individuals with addiction. Meetings of the Help & Hope support group will be facilitated by licensed clinical social worker Ruby Vincent. The group will meet from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays via Zoom. Anyone wishing to join can obtain login info by calling 424-8300.
