Law & Order: Oct. 30-Nov. 12

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between Oct. 30-Nov. 12. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.


Friday, Oct. 30

10:24 a.m. A welfare check was requested on an elderly resident who appeared to have no power and leaking water. Two officers responded and found the residence to be uninhabitable. The Cordova Family Resource Center in conjunction with Sound Alternatives were able to provide temporary housing and assistance with securing long term housing. 11:04 a.m. A caller reported receiving a fraudulent message via Facebook Messenger requesting she click a link. The message was sent from a friend whose account had been compromised. Readers are reminded to very wary of any links sent via text or email that you are not expecting. Always verify with the sender. 12:17 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 4:05 p.m. An officer went to a residence for follow up on a current case. 8:23 p.m. The police department received a request for a welfare check on a senior citizen. An officer responded and determined that the individual was OK.

Saturday, Oct. 31

2:34 p.m. An officer responded to the elementary school for the Halloween parade. 7:45 p.m. An officer assisted a citizen with their dog that got loose. 7:54 p.m. A caller reported running out of gas out the road. A family member was contacted and responded with fuel.

Sunday, Nov. 1

An officer conducted a after hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 8:20 a.m. An individual came to the station to report stolen property. An officer is investigating this report. 11:39 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport.

Monday, Nov. 2

An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 8:58 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle blocking a dumpster. An officer responded and found the vehicle moved. The police department would like to remind citizens not to block dumpsters as you may be ticketed. 1:44 p.m. An officer went to the Cordova Court for an alarm which was found to be unintentional. 2:56 An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 6:26 p.m. Two officers assisted Sound Alternatives with a welfare check. 8:32 p.m. An officer spoke with the owner of an illegally parked vehicle who agreed to move the vehicle. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.

Tuesday, Nov. 3

10:19 a.m. An officer responded to a 911 hang-up call and found everything OK. 12:04 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 3:44 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 4:14 p.m. Caller reported a vehicle doing doughnuts on the Cordova Municipal Airport. Three officers responded and located the vehicle parked. The police department would like to remind drivers that it is illegal to drive on rural airport runways. 5:37 p.m. Caller reported an individual at their business that was not allowed to be on their property. Two officers responded and trespassed the individual from that property. 7:27 p.m. An officer went to a residence for a follow up on a current case. 8:28 p.m. An officer went to a residence for a follow up on a current case.

Wednesday, Nov. 4

An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 11:23 a.m. An officer set up a subject on court ordered electronic alcohol monitoring. 1:04 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 3:10 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 6:16 p.m. Caller reporting speeding vehicles on Whitshed Road. Two officers responded, patrolled road and spoke with caller. 6:30 p.m. An officer set up a subject on court ordered electronic alcohol monitoring. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.

Thursday, Nov. 5

10:52 a.m. Dispatch received a notification of alcohol consumption from an electronic alcohol monitoring device. An officer responded and arrested Jesse Jones, age 51, of Cordova, Alaska, for violating his conditions of release. 6:33 CCMC requested an ambulance for a medical transport from the hospital to the 13-mile airport. An ambulance responded and provided transport. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.

Friday, Nov. 6

9:24 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle blocking a dumpster. 9:52 a.m. An officer participated in an arraignment at court. 11:03 a.m. An officer provided transport of an offender from court to their residence. 1:07 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport.  5:41 p.m. Caller reported a significant amount of water coming from a residence.  An officer responded to the residence, located and shut off the source of the water, the homeowner was notified of the situation. 6:08 p.m. An officer conducted a security check of a local business. 6:55 p.m. An officer conducted a security check of a local business. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.

Saturday, Nov. 7

1:01 a.m. an officer conducted a security check of a local business.

Sunday, Nov. 8

3:56 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 7:36 p.m. Caller reported they had been assaulted.  An officer responded and arrested Killian Long, age 26 of Cordova Alaska, for DV assault in the 4th degree.

Monday, Nov. 9

An officer did an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.  12:23 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 3:51 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13- mile airport. 

Tuesday, Nov. 10

An officer did an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 12:14 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 8:27 p.m. An officer found a utility sign that had blown into the road and removed it. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.

Wednesday, Nov. 11

12:11 a.m. An officer conducted a security check of a local business.  3:45 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 6:14 p.m. A caller reported their sewer lines were backed up; water department was contacted.  7:40 p.m. An officer conducted a security check of a local business. 7:58 p.m. An officer conducted a security check of a local business. 8:50 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle accident, no one injured, vehicle not on the road. 9:03 p.m. An officer investigated the motor vehicle accident. 11:22 p.m. Officer was flagged down on First St. 11:51 p.m. An officer conducted a security check of a local business.

Thursday, Nov. 12

12:38 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 12:40 p.m. A caller reported an illegally parked car. 3:58 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 7:48 p.m. An officer responded to Whitshed Road for follow up with an ongoing case. 10:29 p.m. An officer conducted a security of a local business.  10:33 p.m. An officer conducted a security check of a local business. 11:11 p.m. An officer found a dog running around at Hartney Bay and took them to the station. The owner was contacted and picked up dog.

DMV Hours

From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Thursday unless otherwise posted. Closed for lunch 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Credit Card payments accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations at DMV.
