USDA offers session for potential guided helicopter skiing services

Officials at the Cordova Ranger District will offer a virtual open house from 5:30-7 p.m. Dec. 9 for businesses interested in submitting a prospectus proposal for guided helicopter skiing services within Chugach National Forest.

The goal is to make the prospectus process goes smoothly as possible by providing a brief overview presentation of the application process at the start of the open house and answer questions from interested businesses, according to Steve Namitz, Cordova District Ranger.

The prospectus itself is available at bit.ly/2Kic4O1 and is open for proposals through Jan. 11, 2021.

Those interested in the open house should sign in at usfs.adobeconnect.com/tnfsu-500 at 5:30 p.m. Alaska Time using the “Guest” option and call 1-888-844-9904, access code 3150485#.

The prospectus itself focuses on identifying service providers who demonstrate a high standard of professionalism and cooperative spirit. Proponents should not expect exclusive use of the project area.

The process is expected to be completed in time for service providers to operate in the winter of 2021 and 2022.
