Letter to the Editor: Don’t bash Trump supporters

The following letter was written in response to a letter by Nancy Bird that congratulated Mark Irving for successfully organizing an Oct. 31 rally in support of President Donald Trump, and also said that some Republican leaders were overdue to recognize Joe Biden’s victory in the Nov. 3 election.

This is in response to the Nov. 27 letter from Nancy Bird, “It’s time for Republicans to acknowledge Biden win.” After reading Nancy’s letter, we are confused as to the connection between Mark Irving and the Republicans acknowledging Biden’s win.

To say you congratulate his organizational skills seems more of a slam. What Mark and other Cordovans were a part of was a unified group of people, thanking and supporting the president. What they received from people with opposing views was shameful.

To the person screaming profanities as the vehicles moved along; did you realize there were children in those vehicles? The swastika waved at the vehicles was an insult and not something we thought we would ever see on the streets of Cordova. Election cycles and politicians come and go, but when intolerance toward others’ point of view becomes the norm, we all have a problem.

So, Nancy, while you made your point regarding the election, Mark is not holding up the political process, any more than you are part of the intolerance shown to people at the rally.
