Cordova reported its 53rd case of the novel coronavirus Wednesday, Dec. 9. The newly identified case is connected to the travel-related case announced Monday, Dec. 7, officials said.
In a statement, city officials asked community members to refrain from unnecessary travel.
Of the 53 cases identified so far, two are believed to be currently active. Thirty-nine cases have been Cordova residents and 14 have been non-residents. Three cases have required hospitalization, according to data published Tuesday, Dec. 8 by Ilanka Community Health Center. A Cordova resident who was infected with the novel coronavirus died Nov. 18.
Coronavirus testing is available at ICHC, Mondays and Fridays from 2-3 p.m., and Saturdays from noon-1 p.m.; and at Cordova Community Medical Center, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9-9:30 a.m. More information can be found at the city of Cordova’s online COVID-19 dashboard.
