The city has reopened registration for Cordova Cash payment cards until 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14. Until that deadline, anyone who hasn’t applied for a card, or whose initial application wasn’t received, will have a new opportunity to apply. The application form can be accessed at bit.ly/2W1gKu0. Once filled out, the form can be submitted at finance3@cityofcordova.net.

Over 2,100 residents received cards during the first round of distribution. However, over 50 people reported having made applications that, for one reason or another, weren’t processed, City Manager Helen Howarth said. Since the program still had funds available, the city decided to briefly reopen the application window to make sure that as much money as possible went toward community businesses, she said.

“It supports our local business community, so why not?” Howarth said.

Cordova Cash cards are part of a $1 million stimulus program to help strengthen businesses affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic. They can be used to pay for goods and services at select local businesses.
