Letter to the Editor: Greetings from the Cordova Republican Party

With the upcoming legislative session just around the corner, I wanted to reach out to Cordovans to let them know about the Republican Precinct. In January 2020, we held our first meeting. Twelve Cordovans showed up to have their voices heard. At the meeting, I was nominated and elected as Precinct Leader of the Republican Party in Cordova. We also passed four resolutions that went to the District Convention in Kodiak. Two of the Cordova resolutions – Supporting the Alaska Marine Highway System and opposing the Binding Caucus passed there. In April, two Cordovans went to the State Convention where they were nominated to go to the Republican National Convention – one delegate, one alternate. Annette Deaton traveled to Charlotte, N.C., to represent Cordovans.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the precinct has been sending out informational email updates. The continued return of our ferry is of utmost importance this year. We will support Rep. Stutes in her efforts to protect our road. If you would like to receive email updates on this and other important issues for Cordova, sign up by emailing cdvRepublicanPrecinct@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

William Deaton
Precinct Leader, Cordova Republican Party
